Fixed Teeth in a Day in York at Blossom Dental Care & Implant Studio

All-on-4 dental implant treatment technique

If you have loose or missing teeth, wear uncomfortable dentures or have to avoid certain foods, then our Teeth in a Day dental implant treatment will transform your life.

On the same day that the dental implants are placed, you are fitted with a fantastic set of fixed natural-looking temporary teeth. This means you’re never left with a gap at any stage and won’t need to wear dentures while the healing takes place. After three months, the temporary teeth are replaced with permanent ones and your new teeth will not only feel fantastic they will look fabulous as well.

Normally, in order to replace all missing teeth in the upper or lower jaw a patient is required to have 6 to10 dental implants. With the all-on-4 system, 2 implants at the back of the jaw are placed at an angle of 45 degrees enabling longer implants to be placed in this area for greater stability. The 2 implants at the front of the jaw are placed at 90 degrees. These 4 implants are then braced together by a fixed bridge, which is screwed into the implants and held permanently in place.

Implant-retained dentures

It’s possible to retain and steady conventional complete dentures with tooth implants for a more secure and comfortable fit. The simplest method of doing this is to use a press-stud style attachment on dental implants known as a locator abutment.

We’ll need to place 2 or 4 implants in the lower jaw and a minimum of 4 implants in the upper jaw. The press-stud attachments allow the dentures to be pressed into the mouth and clicked into place. You may still feel some slight movement, but it’s a world away from wearing a complete denture in the traditional way. Secure and stable, it’s a great way to discover a new-found confidence if you struggle with wearing dentures.

Frequently asked questions

About treatment to replace all missing teeth at Blossom Dental Care & Implant Studio

  1. What is a dental implant?

Dental implants replace missing teeth and look and feel like the real thing. They can replace single or several missing teeth and can also be used to securely fix dentures.

The implant is a titanium screw that is placed beneath the gum line and into the jawbone. This small surgical procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic. Over time the surrounding bone begins to integrate with the implant, which essentially acts as an artificial tooth root.

When healing is completed, individual crowns or bridges can be attached to the implants. Healing usually takes from 3 to 6 months so it’s possible to wear temporary crowns or bridges during this time.

  2. Does it hurt?

We will numb your gums so that you do not feel any discomfort. We also offer sedation if you feel very anxious or nervous. After dental implant treatment, over-the-counter painkillers are normally sufficient to control any discomfort (even for extensive procedures).

  3. How long does the treatment take?

This does depend on factors such as the severity of any gum disease and individual needs, but generally tooth implant treatment takes between 3 and 6 months.* If you have any failing teeth, the first step would be to remove them before the implant process begins. The implants would then be placed into the gum and jawbone and left to heal for at least 3 months. Finally, your perfectly-matched crown, bridge or denture is fitted onto the implant/s.

  4. What will the new teeth look like?

We’ll do everything we can to make sure you feel confident and comfortable with your new smile. That means ensuring you have the opportunity to preview your smile before it’s fitted. For most patients, we can also give you the chance to see how your smile will look in your own mouth before any work is carried out.

  5. How long do dental implants last?

If you care for dental implants properly, they can last for many years. One of their great benefits is that you care for them just as you would natural teeth. You’ll need to brush twice a day and floss once a day, and it’s also essential to attend check-ups and hygiene appointments.
