Emergency Dentist Appointments in York
Dental Emergencies can happen when we least expect them, and can be inconvenient and stressful – as well as painful! At Blossom Dental Care, we make sure to allocate appointments every day for dental emergencies. If you have a dental injury or are in severe pain and need an urgent appointment, call our practice as early as possible and we will do our utmost to see you on the same day. We will endeavour to relieve your discomfort as soon as we can.
If you require emergency treatment outside of our normal opening hours, please call us on 01904 654889 and listen to the recorded message which will provide you with information. Alternatively, you can access advice and treatment by dialling 111. This service is not provided by us but commissioned by NHS England.
What is a dental injury?
Our teeth are durable – but unfortunately not invulnerable to damage. Your teeth may be injured in a sporting incident, damaged by a bacterial infection, or fall prone to any number of other ailments. Those who experience a dental injury often find themselves with fractured, chipped, or dislodged teeth and jaw injuries.
When should I request an emergency appointment?
Dental injuries vary greatly, and it can be difficult to know when an emergency appointment is necessary:
- If an accident leads to you losing a tooth, try and store the tooth in a glass of milk, or between your cheek and gum, before ringing the practice as soon as possible.
- If you are experiencing severe dental pain, you may have an abscess that requires urgent treatment – call us soon as possible.
- It’s not unusually necessary to seek emergency help for a chipped tooth, but if the tooth appears to be broken or is causing you great pain, you should call as soon as possible.
- If you suffer an injury that leaves your jaw in great pain, or you believe your jawbone may be broken, visit the Accident and Emergency department of the nearest hospital.
