Invisalign – a clear alternative to braces

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is the virtually invisible way to straighten your teeth and achieve the smile you’ve always dreamed of. Using advanced 3D computer-imaging technology a series of clear aligners are custom-made for your teeth to move them little by little.  Each aligner is worn for about two weeks before being replaced by the next in the series, gradually moving towards the projected final position.  It can correct a wide variety of problems from crooked and sticking out teeth to those that have relapsed after previously wearing braces.  Over 2.5 million people have now been successfully treated with Invisalign.

How is the treatment carried out?

An initial assessment appointment is made with a registered Invisalign Provider to determine the patient’s suitability.  Once the patient has decided that the treatment is right for them impressions and photographs are taken of their teeth.  Using the advanced 3D imaging technology Invisalign create a 3D movie or smile simulation; patients love this because they can see how their new smile will look even before the treatment has started.  Only two weeks later the first aligners will arrive, these are replaced every two weeks and the patient is welcomed back to the practice every 6-8 weeks to ensure the teeth are moving into their desired position.

What are the features?

Invisalign is virtually invisible.  The clear aligners are custom made to fit your teeth so there are no shape edges or individual brackets meaning they are comfortable and irritation free.  They are worn 22 hours a day and are easily removed for eating, brushing and because they don’t interfere with the way you speak they are a popular choice with many patients.
